~ ~ ~ CERTIFICATE ~ ~ ~

This course covers the total person and office of the Pastor. Although the course entitled “Pastoral Excellence Course”, it does not mean that it is geared for only those who are existing Pastors. Instead, it is for the following persons.

NB.  The certificate that is awarded at this level is given by Shophar of Praise Tabernacle Bible School in association with Family of Christ Theological Seminary.

Who Should Apply?

  1. Existing Pastors

  2. Existing Bishops

  3. Persons desiring to enter the Pastoral Ministry

  4. Deacons/Deaconess

  5. Lay leaders, especially those that report directly to the Pastor.

The Pastor or Bishop does not acquire excellence all by himself or herself. It takes a team of personnel who can get a grasp of the Pastor's vision that the Lord gave to him/her and run with it.

The vision for the church will never be materialized if those who assist the Pastor in administration are not able to conceive the vision and work to carry it out.

For this reason, it becomes important that lay ministers take this course. Lay leaders should be the head of every department in the church. In so doing, all teachings and programs in every department should carry or have the same goal in mind.

NOTE: Homiletics and Hermeneutics are included.

Course 201 - New Testament Survey (excluding Acts and Revelation)

This course is a survey of the gospels and the letters of the New Testament.  It is a study concerning Christ as Man, Savior, King and God; His first and second advents; the writings of Paul and the other Apostles; instructions for body of Christ and the revelation of the Church.  The purpose, theme, emphasis and key verses of each epistle will be outlined.

Course 202 - The Life and Teachings of Christ

This is a study concerning miraculous birth, ministry, death, resurrection and ascension of Christ as portrayed in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  It will be presented in the distinct periods of preparation, obscurity, popularity, opposition, persecution, passion week, resurrection appearances and ascension.  The life of Christ is set forth as an exemplary pattern for contemporary Christian living.  This course also includes a look at Christ teachings based on the sermon on the Mount.

Course 203 - Acts of the Apostles

The study of the book of Acts gives an objective account of the formation of the Christian Church, some of its problems, solutions, and victories.  It shows the fulfillment of Acts 1:8: the growth of the Church from Jerusalem to Samaria and unto the Gentile world. The gospel is presented to the Gentiles, thus allowing the God which was exclusively for the Jews, to now become the God of the world.

Course 204 – Introduction to Church History

Prerequisite to this course is the Acts of the Apostle. This is an introduction to the history of the Christian Church from its beginnings in the ancient Middle East as recorded in the book of Acts, through the dark ages and the reformation to present status.  A brief survey will be done on the rise of modern missions.

Course 205 - Typology

Symbolism and typology are often a neglected area of study, hence many of the rich truths of the Scriptures are not tapped into by many scholars. This course is not a lesson in allegorization, but provides a necessary revelation of the how the Old Testament design and characters are a part of God’s eternal plan which is culminated in both the New Testament and the Church. Through the unveiling of these types and symbols, the student will receive a deeper understanding of the organization of God, the resurrection, the Holy Spirit, the Tabernacle, the Temple and most of all the person and work of Jesus Christ will be revealed from the beginning of the Scriptures in the different types: persons, places, characters, and events.

Course 206 - Daniel and Revelation

Prerequisite to this course is Typology. This course identifies the types and symbols represented in the book of Daniel and Revelation to illustrate God’s plan for the Gentile nations and for the Jews as His suffering people to whom the Messiah will come and deliver after the tribulation. It provides a systematic correlative study of prophetic events as recorded in both books.
